Cuttack, Nov 27: In a stern administrative move, the Cuttack District Collector has ordered the suspension of salaries for 91 government officials in the district.

The action was taken after these officials allegedly failed to effectively conduct public hearings (Jan Sunani), which are considered a crucial mechanism for addressing grievances and ensuring accountability in governance.

Among those whose salaries have been stopped are the Sub-Collectors of Banki and Athagarh, as well as the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Cuttack.

The directive underscores the Collector’s emphasis on enforcing discipline and ensuring that public hearings are carried out diligently.

Officials noted that the measure is intended to send a strong message across the administration about the importance of responsiveness to public concerns.
