Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: A woman was killed after she was hit by a speeding car on Aiginia main road in Bhubaneswar on Friday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the woman was crossing the road after purchasing groceries. Meanwhile, she was hit by the speeding car. The impact was severe that the woman died on the spot.
On the other hand, despite attempts by bystanders to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene at high speed.
On being informed, police personnel from Khandagiri police station, including the Inspector-in-Charge, reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. However, police have recovered a mobile phone from her belongings and are using it to contact her family members. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have started scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and trace the driver. Preliminary reports suggest that the car was moving recklessly, raising concerns about speeding and road safety in the capital city.
