Patnagarh, Nov 26: A day of celebration descended into sorrow when the groom’s car accidentally ran over his father during the marriage procession.

The incident took place in Mandal village under Belpada police limits.

According to reports, the groom was seated in the car as part of the wedding procession when the vehicle lost control and struck his father. The impact proved fatal, and the father died on the spot.

The tragedy cast a pall of grief over the festivities.

The groom, who was on his way to his wedding, had to return home in sorrow as his father’s body was taken to the mortuary.
