Angul, Apr 10: A woman and her son were killed after being trampled by a wild elephant near Madhupur village under Bantala forest range in Angul district.

According to reports, the heart-wrenching tragedy took place when the family was returning home after watching a traditional Danda Nacha performance.

The victims with their family were returning home when they unexpectedly encountered a wild elephant. In the chaos that followed, the elephant charged at them, trampling the mother and child to death. The father, who was accompanying them, narrowly escaped with his life.

The attack has left the villagers in shock, highlighting the growing human-wildlife conflict in the region.

On being informed about the incident, forest officials rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
