Puri, Mar 30: A tragic incident unfolded at Sector 14 beach in Puri on Monday, where two tourists lost their lives while bathing in the sea.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the tourists were taking bath at the beach. Meanwhile, they swept away by strong currents. On alert, the lifeguards rushed to their help and rescued them. The victims were then rushed to Puri Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, and police are working to establish their details.

Police official suspect that the tourists may have been caught in a rip current or overwhelmed by the high tide, which often poses a serious risk to swimmers along the Puri coastline.

This incident highlights the recurring dangers faced by visitors to Puri’s beaches, which attract thousands of tourists every year. Despite warnings from lifeguards and signage cautioning against swimming during rough sea conditions, accidents continue to occur, particularly in areas prone to strong undercurrents.
