Mayurbhanj, Oct 5: A powerful explosion during illegal preparation of fireworks in Bachhuripada village under Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district,  has left two individuals critically injured.

According to reports, the blast took place while banned firecrackers were being manufactured in a residential area. The sudden explosion caused panic among villagers and resulted in severe injuries to two persons involved in the activity.

Both victims were immediately rushed to Balasore Medical College and Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Baisinga Police reached the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Authorities are probing the source of the materials used and whether the activity was part of a larger illegal operation.

The incident has raised concerns about the unchecked production of hazardous materials in rural areas, especially ahead of festive seasons.

Officials have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities and warned of strict action against those involved in illegal firework manufacturing.
