Accident / Truck driver, helper killed in collision between two trucks on NH 16

Soro, Mar 19: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed
after a potato-laden truck rammed into another container vehicle near Talnagar
under Soro police limits on National Highway 16 in the wee hours of Thursady.
According to reports, a truck loaded with potatoes, was en
route to Bhubaneswar from Balasore when it collided with a container vehicle
moving in the same direction. The impact was so severe that the potato-laden
truck broke into three pieces, spilling its cargo onto the road and under a
nearby bridge.
Eyewitnesses stated that the truck carrying potatoes rammed
into the rear of the container vehicle, causing the massive load of potatoes to
tumble down. Unfortunately, the driver and helper of the potato truck were
trapped under the heavy pile of sacks and succumbed to their injuries
instantly.
On being informed, Local police from Soro station rushed to
the spot and initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the
collision.
Traffic on the busy highway was disrupted for several hours
as authorities worked to clear the debris and restore normal flow.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of
