Cuttack, Nov 9: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the family of the three persons, who died after the balcony of an old five-story apartment collapsed on their house in Buxi Bazar area in Cuttack last evening.

 A four-year-old kid was among three members of a family who were crushed to death in the incident.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Jalil (60), son Abdul Jahid (30) and grandson Abdul Mujahid (4). Critically injured Saina Begum, wife of Jahid, is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Two others, Reha Khan (8) and Rehamatun Nissa (50), both from the same neighbourhood also sustained injuries in the incident.

According to reports, the tragic mishap occurred when the balcony of an old apartment suddenly gave way, crashing down onto a nearby asbestos-roofed house, trapping at least five members of a family beneath the rubble. Following the incident, rescue team rushed to the scene and rescued the victims.
