From the past few days, Odisha is been reeling under intense heat as temperatures soared across the state, prompting the regional meteorological department to issue a heatwave alert.

Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest city in the past 24 hours, recording a maximum temperature of 40.6°C. Close behind were Hirakud at 40.2°C, Sambalpur at 39.9°C, Rourkela at 38.8°C, and the capital Bhubaneswar at 34.2°C. The department has specifically warned residents of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts to brace for extreme conditions over the next 24 hours.

The sweltering heat has raised concerns about public health and daily life, with advisories urging people to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. However, there is a silver lining on the horizon. Weather experts predict a shift in conditions beginning March 15, with rainfall likely to bring much-needed respite.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, balancing caution with optimism as the state awaits cooler days ahead.
