Bhubaneswar, Mar 14: After days of rising temperatures,
relief from intense heat is expected soon as weather systems developed over the
weekend may trigger widespread rain, thunderstorms and hailstorms across several places in Odisha.
From the past few days, Odisha is been reeling under intense heat as
temperatures soared across the state, prompting the regional meteorological
department to issue a heatwave alert.
Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest city in the past 24 hours,
recording a maximum temperature of 40.6°C. Close behind were Hirakud at 40.2°C,
Sambalpur at 39.9°C, Rourkela at 38.8°C, and the capital Bhubaneswar at 34.2°C.
The department has specifically warned residents of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur
districts to brace for extreme conditions over the next 24 hours.
The sweltering heat has raised concerns about public health
and daily life, with advisories urging people to stay hydrated and avoid
prolonged exposure to the sun. However, there is a silver lining on the
horizon. Weather experts predict a shift in conditions beginning March 15, with
rainfall likely to bring much-needed respite.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in parts
of Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, where a yellow warning has already been
issued.
This anticipated change could ease the scorching summer

who have endured relentless heat.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely,
balancing caution with optimism as the state awaits cooler days ahead.
