Plans include housing government offices such as Boyanika, Utkalika, and Sambalpuri Bastralaya within the hub, ensuring that all handloom and handicraft products are available under one roof.

The initiative aims to provide tourists and buyers — both domestic and international — a single destination to explore and purchase Odisha’s famed artisanal products.

Senior officials present included Poonam Tapas Kumar, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department; Dr Nivedita Prusty, Director of Handicrafts and Managing Director of Boyanika; Managobinda Jena, Deputy Director; Laxmi Kanta Padhi, Special Secretary of Works Department; Priyabrata Samantaray, Chief Engineer (Buildings); Manoj Mahanand, Chief Construction Engineer; and Sachin Sahu, Superintending Engineer, among others.

The hub is envisioned as a cultural landmark that will not only promote Odisha’s traditional crafts but also provide artisans with better market access. By integrating modern infrastructure with heritage aesthetics, the government aims to create a vibrant space that reflects the state’s artistic legacy while supporting economic growth.

Once completed, the hub will serve as a one-stop destination for handicrafts and handlooms, strengthening Odisha’s position as a leader in traditional art and textile exports.
