In response to the rising water levels, authorities at Hirakud Dam have opened four additional sluice gates.

With the opening of the additional gates, the total number of sluice gates now stands at twelve. The current water level at the reservoir now stands at 629.97 feet.
According to dam officials, an inflow of 2,05,426 cusecs of water is being recorded per second, while the outflow has reached 1,67,307 cusecs per second. The dam management is closely monitoring the situation to ensure controlled discharge and prevent downstream flooding.
Local administration has urged residents to remain cautious and avoid venturing into waterlogged areas.
