Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: Amid persistent uproar from opposition members, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House until 4 PM .

The House functioned for only 20 minutes during Question Hour before Speaker Surama Padhy called for adjournment.

Soon after the session commenced, members of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) stormed the well of the House, shouting slogans beneath the Speaker’s podium, while Congress legislators staged protests from their seats.

Despite repeated appeals from the Speaker urging cooperation and decorum, the disruptions persisted. She requested both BJD and Congress MLAs to return to their seats and participate constructively in the House proceedings, but her appeals went unheeded.

This marks yet another day of stalled proceedings in the ongoing monsoon session, which has seen repeated clashes between the ruling and opposition parties over issues ranging from panchayat powers to fertilizer shortages.
