Cuttack, Feb 27: In a much-awaited verdict into the Odia film actress Nikita death case, the Cuttack Third Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court has found her husband, Lipan Sahu, as guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000.
The court established that Nikita was pushed from the roof of her father’s house in Mahanadi Vihar on January 4, 2019, leading to severe injuries. Despite being admitted to multiple hospitals, she succumbed to her injuries the following day.
Nikita’s family had lodged a complaint at Chauliaganj police station, alleging that Lipan had murdered her and subjected her to dowry-related harassment. They also accused her in-laws of physical and mental abuse. However, the court acquitted Lipan’s parents of domestic violence charges, ruling them not guilty.

Nikita had married Lipan in November 2016 in a love marriage. According to her family, she endured continuous harassment over dowry demands and suffered physical and emotional abuse. During this period, she gave birth to a son. Eventually, she moved back to her father’s house in Mahanadi Vihar, where the fatal incident occurred.
