Ganjam, Oct 8: The officials of Odisha Vigilance department on Wednesday arrested an OAS officer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

The officer, identified as Banamali Satpathy, is reportedly posted as Executive Officer of Belaguntha NAC, Ganjam district.

According to reports, the officer had demanded the bribe from a staffer in exchange for processing the employee’s arrear salary and issuing the Last Pay Certificate (LPC).

Acting on a complaint, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while accepting the gratification.

Following the arrest, simultaneous raids were launched at multiple premises linked to Satpathy, including his residence and office.

Several documents and digital records are being scrutinized as part of the ongoing investigation.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal proceedings into the incident are underway.
