Odisha government confirms no plans to open additional sub-treasuries, citing complete digitization of financial processes.
Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: The Odisha government has clarified that no new sub-treasuries will be opened in the state. Responding on behalf of the Chief Minister during proceedings in the Assembly, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated that with the introduction of online systems, the need for additional sub-treasuries no longer exists.
Harichandan explained that pension disbursement, challan payments, and bill processing are all being carried out through the e-voucher system, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
This digital transformation has significantly reduced the dependence on physical treasury offices, making the expansion of sub-treasuries unnecessary.
Currently, Odisha has 169 treasuries operating across the state, informed the Law Minister.
The minister emphasised that these existing facilities, combined with the online system, are sufficient to meet the financial management needs of the government and the public.
