Argus News - Nayagarh Firecracker Explosion: Death Toll Rises to Three

Nayagarh, Apr 8: One more person, who had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after being injured in firecracker explosion in Korada village, succumbed to his injuries. With this, the death toll rose to three.

The deceased has been identified as Hadu Sethi of Korada village, who was among the five critically injured admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, two others had lost their lives in the aftermath of the blast. On Friday, Bapi Nayak of Minagadia village and Niranjan Nahak of Korada Mathasahi were declared dead due to severe burn injuries sustained in the explosion.

The explosion took place when the victims were making firecrackers for the celebration of ‘Lanka Podi’ festival in the locality. The explosion  left several villagers injured and caused widespread panic in the area.

While three victims have now died, two others remain in critical condition and are undergoing intensive treatment in the burn ward at AIIMS. Doctors have described their condition as serious, and the coming days will be crucial for their recovery.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, focusing on the source of the firecrackers and the circumstances that led to the blast.
