Deogarh, Mar 14: Police on Saturday took Ramesh Garia, who
had allegedly killed his wife, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, into custody
after a tense standoff with police and local residents.
The murder incident had took place in Gariapali village
under Kundheigola police station on Friday.
Following the crime, the accused climbed atop the village
water tank to evade arrest.
After Ramesh was traced in the morning, police and the
villagers surrounded the water tank.
For nearly three hours, police struggled to apprehend the
accused as villagers surrounded the tank to prevent his escape. The situation
escalated until the fire brigade arrived, enabling officers to climb up with
ladders. Ramesh Garia was eventually subdued and brought down safely before
being taken into custody.

Following his arrest, police immediately transported him to
Kundheigola hospital for a medical examination. After confirming his health
condition, authorities placed him in custody and initiated a detailed
investigation into the gruesome killings.
Police officials have assured that a thorough probe is
underway to uncover the circumstances leading to the crime. Meanwhile, the
village remains in mourning, grappling with the tragic loss of three lives in a
single household.
