Puri, Jan 9: The sacred Jagannath Temple witnessed the performance of the Bada Maha Snana ritual today after an incident near the Bhitarkatha area.
According to temple sources, the ritual was necessitated after vomiting was reported close to the sanctum, prompting the administration to conduct the purification ceremony.
Following the Tadapalagi ritual, the Bada Maha Snana was carried out as per tradition.
During this period, darshan for devotees was temporarily suspended for nearly an hour. The temple administration clarified that the suspension was essential to maintain sanctity and ensure the smooth conduct of the rituals.
The Bada Maha Snana marks a significant purification process in temple traditions, symbolizing the cleansing of the premises and restoration of divine order. After the completion of the ritual, normal darshan for devotees resumed, allowing thousands of pilgrims to continue their spiritual experience.
