Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: As many as five districts across Odisha will witness rainfall activities in the next 24 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) regional centre.

The weather agency has also issued a yellow alert for the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

According to IMD's latest bulletin, a low-pressure trough remains active over southern Jharkhand, northern Chhattisgarh, and interior Odisha. Under its influence, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rainfall are expected in several parts of the State.

The system is likely to move west-northwestwards over the next 48 hours and may intensify further, potentially enhancing rain activity in adjoining areas, the weather agency added.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in northern and interior Odisha until the morning of March 16.

Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during lightning activity. The IMD has urged people, especially those in vulnerable areas, to stay updated with official advisories and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
