Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: A low-pressure area has developed over the southeast Bay of Bengal, and is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 36 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD's latest update, the system is currently moving in a west-northwest direction and is likely to strengthen further over the central and adjoining west-central parts of the southern Bay of Bengal. The disturbance will evolve into a well-marked depression, potentially influencing weather patterns along the eastern coast of India.
Under its influence, enhanced rainfall activity is expected in several parts of Odisha. Coastal regions may also experience squally winds and rough sea conditions, prompting advisories for fishermen and maritime operations, said the IMD.
