Thunderstorm Alert Issued For Three Odisha Districts Within 3 Hours

Key Points

The advisory warns of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, expected to occur within the next three hours.
Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: The Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) regional centre has issued a yellow alert for three districts in Odisha—Kendrapara, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.

The advisory warns of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, expected to occur within the next three hours.

According to IMD's latest bulletin, a low-pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal, which may intensify into a depression. Due to the influence of an active cyclonic circulation, light rainfall is expected today across several southern Odisha districts.

These include Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. The weather office has issued a yellow alert for these regions as well, said the weather department.

The weather department anticipates increased rainfall activity in coastal and southern interior districts on October 22 and 23, with a further intensification likely on October 24.

Residents are advised to stay updated with official advisories and take necessary precautions.
