Khordha, Apr 9: The four-month-old infant boy, who was allegedly stolen from Nirakarpur Railway Station in Odisha’s Khordha district on Tuesday, has been rescued.
Reportedly, the four-month-old baby boy was stolen from near his mother while she was resting on the railway station platform.
Following the incident, the family had registered a case, acting on which, Railway Police launched an immediate investigation.
Within 24 hours, the missing child was traced and rescued from Ranapur in Nayagarh district.
Investigations revealed that the alleged theft done by child’s father, Prashant Pradhan, and his first wife.
Prashant, a resident of Kalamatia village in Ranpur, had been living with his second wife, Chinulata Parida, and their infant son. On Tuesday night, the couple arrived at Nirakarpur station intending to travel to Tamil Nadu. While resting on platform number 3, Prashant secretly summoned his first wife to the station.

As Chinulata slept, Prashant handed over the baby to his first wife, who fled with the child to Ranapur. Later, Prashant and Chinulata filed a complaint with the Railway Police, claiming the baby had been stolen. However, swift investigation exposed the conspiracy.
The Railway Police rescued the child from Ranapur and detained Prashant along with his first wife at Khordha Road Railway Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
