Kandhamal, Sep 27: Police on Saturday conducted raid on an illegal firecracker storage unit in Baliguda here and seized fireworks over Rs 30 lakh. One person was also arrested in connection with the case.
Acting on reliable inputs, a special team led by SDPO Ramendra Prasad, carried out at a raid at the Ma Patakhanda Season Store in Baliguda town. During the raid, a large quantity of fireworks, secretly stockpiled without proper licensing, was found. Following the raid, the fireworks were seized while store owner, Trilochan Patra, was arrested.
According to SDPO, the warehouse was operating in violation of safety norms and legal protocols, posing a serious risk to public safety. The seized stock included high-intensity firecrackers stored in unsafe conditions.
