Bhubaneswar, Sep 27: The driver of an ambulance escaped with minor injuries after the vehicle overturned near Puri Canal Road.
According to reports, the emergency vehicle was en route to Sambalpur when the driver reportedly lost control due to drowsiness.
The incident occurred close to Shandhapur village while the vehicle was returning after dropping off a patient at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The ambulance—belonging to a private operator in Sambalpur—had earlier transported a patient from Burla Medical College to AIIMS. On its return journey via Barang and Puri Canal Road, the driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn near the canal embankment.
Fortunately, both the driver and the vehicle owner, who were inside the ambulance at the time, managed to escape with minor injuries.
Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and initiated a probe.
