Ganjam, Oct 26: At least two persons sustained critical injuries following a gas cylinder explosion at a hotel near Chikiti Pent in Ganjam district.

The victims, identified as Rajendra Behera and Ganga Badhata, are reportedly admitted to a hospital in Brahmapur and undergoing treatment there.

According to reports, the blast occurred while operations were underway at the hotel, causing panic among staff and nearby residents.

On being informed, emergency services rushed to the scene, and rescued the injured. They were immediately transferred to Berhampur for advanced medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, which is suspected to be due to a gas leak. Safety officials have urged all commercial establishments to conduct regular checks on gas equipment and follow fire safety protocols.
