Nabarangpur, Apr 12: The Vigilance department today nabbed Gudari forest Ranger with a cash of Rs 2.34 Lakh while he was travelling in his personal vehicle.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-corruption wing intercepted Gudari forest Ranger Sukumar Dukhu near the Indravati Bridge and conducted a search. During the search, the officials seized ₹2,34,800 in cash from his possession. The forest ranger was arrested after he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source of the money.
Subsequently, the cash and the official vehicle bearing registration number OD18K-7041 were seized.
According to sources, the Gudari forest Ranger Sukumar Dukhu was on his way to his residence in Nabarangpur city when Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught him with the unaccounted money.

Following the seizure, Vigilance teams immediately extended their investigation to his official residence in Gudari, Rayagada district, where searches are underway to uncover further evidence. Simultaneously, another team has launched a probe at his residential property in Senapati Sahi, Nabarangpur, to verify assets and documents.
Officials have stated that further inquiries will determine the source of the seized cash and whether it is linked to bribery or misuse of office.
This case has stirred public debate in the region, with citizens demanding strict action against corrupt officials to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
