Bhubaneswar, Apr 8: The Odisha Vigilance Department on Wednesday carried simultaneous raid at multiple locations linked to Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer of the Central Irrigation Circle.
Acting on allegations of possession of disproportionate assets, the Vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches at six different places, including Mohanty’s residence at Jagannath Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
Apart from the capital city, raids were also conducted in Cuttack, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal, covering properties and offices associated with the senior engineer.
The operation was massive in scale, involving one Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), eleven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, and eight Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs).
According to sources, the Vigilance Department is investigating whether Mohanty accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income. The searches are part of a broader crackdown on corruption within government departments, particularly targeting officials suspected of amassing wealth illegally.
The outcome of the searches is expected to shed light on the extent of assets allegedly held by the officer.
On the strength of search warrants issued by Hon’ble Special Judge Vigilance Cuttack, tha raids were carried at the following places.
1.Residential triple storeyed building located over Plot No 210-B, Baramunda Housing Board Colony, Lane-8, BBSR.
2. Paternal House located at Vill:- Kolhasingh, PS-Badachana, Dist- Jajpur.
3.House of his relative at Deula Sahi, Jublee Town, Dist- Dhenkanal.
4.Office chamber of Sri Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, ACE, Dam Safety, BBSR.
5. A double storeyed building & farm house over plot no. 610,611,609 & 606 Bimbol, Bhapur, Dhenkanal.
6. House of his close associate at Nayabazar, PS- Chauliaganj, Dist- Cuttack.
