Rain Update / Deep Depression Triggers Widespread Rainfall Across Odisha, IMD Issues Red Alert

Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has triggered widespread rainfall across Odisha. The weather system, which intensified overnight has led to continuous downpours in several parts of the state.
Following this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts, anticipating extremely heavy rainfall.
Additionally, 14 districts including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Balangir are under orange alert, while another 14 districts face yellow warnings, said the weather department in it's latest bulletin.

✨Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 to 40 km/h, prompting authorities to advise fishermen against venturing into the sea until further notice, it added.
The IMD has also issued a short-term yellow alert for four districts over the next three hours, warning of possible lightning and thunder along with heavy rain.
