Cuttack, Apr 19: In view of the severe heatwave sweeping across the region, the Cuttack district administration has announced revised timings for all schools and Anganwadi centers. District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb issued the directive on Sunday, stating that from tomorrow onwards, classes will run only during the early morning hours — from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM.

The order applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centers across the district. The administration emphasized that the decision was taken to safeguard children from the extreme summer temperatures, which have been rising sharply in recent days.

In addition to the timing change, schools and Anganwadi centers have been instructed to ensure the availability of safe drinking water for students. Authorities stressed that hydration and precautionary measures are essential to protect children from heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and heatstroke.

The Collector further stated that the situation will be continuously monitored, and additional measures — including possible holidays — may be announced depending on the severity of the heatwave in the coming days.
