According to reports, the man along with his wife had gone to collect vegetables near their backyard when a tusker suddenly appeared and charged at them.
The elephant trampled the woman on the spot, leading to her instant death. Her husband, who was also critically injured in the attack, was rushed to Digapahandi Medical Centre by locals. Despite efforts by doctors, he was declared dead upon arrival.
The sudden attack has left the village in shock, with residents mourning the loss of two lives.
