Rajgangpur, Dec 6: A college girl student sustained critical burn injuries after she set herself on fire in Lanjibarna area under Rajgangpur police station. Reports indicate that about 90 percent of her body was burnt in the blaze.

According to reports, the victim, a Plus III student, was immediately rushed to Rourkela’s Ispat General Hospital (IGH), where doctors confirmed the severity of her injuries and placed her under intensive care.

Police officials have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.

As part of the inquiry, the victim’s male friend has been taken into custody for questioning. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including personal and social factors, to establish the cause behind the act.

Family members and fellow students expressed shock and grief, describing the incident as deeply disturbing.
