Kamakhyanagar, Apr 22: Four census officials sustained injuries after they were brutally assaulted by a local resident and his two sons at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district.

According to reports, the unprecedented incident took place during an ongoing census survey in Anantapur Sahi. The officials, who were out on duty, were brutally assaulted by a local resident and his two sons. The attackers also vandalized vehicles belonging to the officials.

The injured officers have been identified as Raghunath Dixit, Madhusmita Behera, Swarnalata Sahu, and Satina Biren Behera.

Reports suggest that the violence erupted when the census team was collecting data in the locality. Before any questions could be asked, accused Nikunja Satapathy and his two sons allegedly attacked the officials, damaging their bike and scooter. The trio then physically assaulted the officers, beating them mercilessly.

The shocking incident was captured on video, which has since circulated widely, drawing public outrage.

Following a complaint lodged at Kamakhyanagar police station, the Sub-Collector, along with local police, rushed to the spot and began an investigation. The accused are being tracked, and authorities have assured strict action.

This attack has raised serious concerns about the safety of government officials engaged in census duties.
