Puri, Dec 3: The sacred Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed to devotees for five hours today following the sacred Banakalagi Niti (ritual of applying fresh colors to the deities).

 

The Banakalagi Niti, is a traditional ritual, which involves adorning the deities with fresh colors.

As part of the tradition, the darshan will be stopped after the completion of the Dwitiya Bhogamandap ritual. After completion of the rituals, the doors of the temple will reopen, and devotees will once again be able to have darshan of the Lord.

 

Temple authorities have urged devotees to take note of the temporary closure and plan their visit accordingly.
