Angul, Jan 1: The Vigilance Department apprehended Chendipada Additional Tehsildar Prakash Chandra Nayak while allegedly accepting a bribe for mutation work.
According to reports, Om Prakash Agrawal of Angul had three mutation cases pending in Chendipada. His lawyer had been following up repeatedly with the tehsil office. It is alleged that Nayak demanded Rs 9,000 to process the applications.
Acting on a complaint, the Angul Vigilance team laid a trap.
During the transaction, Nayak reportedly directed the complainant’s lawyer to hand over the money to office peon Kahna Sahu. As Sahu accepted the bribe amount, a team led by Additional SP Swastik Panda raided the office and seized the cash.

Both Nayak and Sahu were detained, and searches are being
conducted at the Additional Tehsildar’s office chamber and government
residence.

The raid was carried out by a 10‑member Vigilance team, including the DSP and Inspector.
Officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of irregularities and to collect evidence related to the bribery case.
