Cuttack, Dec 3: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has opened ticket counters at its office today for affiliated institutions and district sports associations ahead of the much‑anticipated India–South Africa T20 clash, which is scheduled for December 9 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
On Wednesday, BCCI East Zone Chief Pitch Curator Ashish Bhowmick inspected the pitch and ground conditions to ensure readiness for the match.
Two pitches have been prepared for the fixture—one made of black soil from Kalahandi and another of red soil brought from Maharashtra. After careful assessment, the BCCI curator confirmed that the match will be played on the red soil pitch.

According to the OCA pitch curator, the red soil wicket is
expected to favour batsmen, raising hopes for a high‑scoring
contest. With ticket sales underway and pitch preparations finalised,
excitement is building among fans as Cuttack gears up to host the opening T20
of the India–South Africa series.

This will mark the first occasion that a match at Barabati
Stadium is played on a red soil surface, introducing a new chapter in the
venue’s cricketing tradition.
The Indian men’s cricket team will face South Africa in a five-match T20I series. The five 20-over matches are scheduled to take place in Cuttack, Mullanpur, Dharamsala, Lucknow and Ahmedabad on December 9, 11, 14, 17 and 19, respectively.
