Brahmapur, Oct 22: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Pitabash Panda, police have apprehended another sharpshooter believed to be involved in the crime.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a special team from Brahmapur tracked the suspect’s movements and coordinated with local authorities in Bengaluru to carry out the arrest. The accused is suspected to have played a direct role in the execution of the murder and is now being interrogated for further leads.
This latest arrest adds to a growing list of detentions made across multiple states, including former Brahmapur Mayor Shiv Shankar Das, Mitu Panda and Bikram Panda.
Sources indicate that individuals have been detained from Bihar (two persons), West Bengal, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru.
Additionally, suspects from Nayagarh, Khordha, and Brahmapur have also been taken into custody.
Contrary to earlier speculation, police now believe that the crime was orchestrated by local criminals rather than outsiders from Bihar.
In a breakthrough yesterday, Brahmapur police apprehended a youth from Puri who had been absconding since the murder incident. Investigators have obtained crucial leads linking him directly to the case.
