Berhampur, Oct 21: It has been over two weeks since the shocking murder of BJP leader and lawyer Pitabash Panda in Berhampur, yet the motive behind the crime remain shrouded in mystery. Despite extensive investigation, the question of who orchestrated the killing and why continues to stir public curiosity and concern.

Police Probe Reaches Final Link

South Odisha IG Niti Shekhar today revealed that the investigation is now focused on the "last link" in the chain of evidence. He assured that the mystery surrounding the murder will be unraveled within the next two days. His statement has sparked speculation about the possible involvement of political figures and whether the murder was a result of professional rivalry or a contract killing.

Political Angle Under Scrutiny

Sources indicate that police have detained a prominent local politician with a history of criminal cases for questioning. Though officials have not confirmed the identity, it is suspected that the individual may have direct or indirect links to the murder. Additionally, a corporator from a specific political party and a former student leader have also been interrogated.

Extensive Investigation Efforts

Police have questioned over 70 individuals and reviewed footage from more than 60 CCTV cameras. Teams have even traveled outside the state to pursue leads. According to fellow lawyers, while the investigation has taken time, they believe the police are close to identifying the real culprits.
