Pitabash Panda Murder Case: Corporator, Student Leader Taken Into Custody

Berhampur, Oct 18: In a major development in the investigation into the murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabash Panda, Berhampur police have detained two persons into custody for questioning.

The move comes as part of an intensified probe into the high-profile case that has rocked southern Odisha.

According to reports, police have detained a city corporator and a student leader late last night. Both individuals are currently being interrogated at an undisclosed location.

So far, 8 to 10 individuals have been detained in connection with the case. Among them are two paramilitary personnel — one from the CISF and another from the Odisha Special Armed Police — as well as suspects apprehended from Bihar, including the alleged sharpshooter responsible for the killing.

Police are examining multiple angles, including land disputes and financial transactions, as they work to uncover the motive behind the murder.

CCTV footage and call records are being analysed to trace the movements of suspects and establish links between the detained individuals.
