New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The Central Government is set to implement the ‘One Nation, One Police Uniform’ policy, aiming to standardise police attire across all states and union territories.

Once enforced, police personnel throughout the country will wear a single, unified style of uniform, replacing the varied designs currently used by different states.

As part of the preparatory process, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued official letters to 16 states and union territories, including Odisha, requesting detailed information regarding their existing police uniforms.

The states asked to submit data include Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

The directive mandates that all requested information be submitted by November 4.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to bring uniformity and cohesion to law enforcement presentation across India, potentially enhancing national identity and operational consistency.

Further updates are expected once the data is reviewed and the final design is approved for nationwide rollout.
