Bhadrak, Mar 9: A 24-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of miscreants in Odisha’s Bhadrak district late on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Kumar Swami, a resident of the Charampa area under Bhadrak Town Police Station.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Gunthunia Bazar under the jurisdiction of Bhadrak Town Police Station when the victim was attending the fair. Meanwhile, the assailants intercepted and pushed him aside. Then they dragged him and launched a violent attack with a sharp weapon.

The assailants reportedly stabbed Kumar multiple times in the chest and abdomen before fleeing the scene.

Local residents rushed to his aid and immediately took him to the Bhadrak District Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

Police suspect the murder may have stemmed from previous enmity, though the exact motive is still under investigation. Bhadrak Town Police have registered a case, and began a search operation to apprehend the accused.

Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to track down the attackers.
