Bhubaneswar, Nov 23: In a shocking incident of one-sided love, a young woman was abducted and forcibly married in Dhenkanal district after she rejected the marriage proposal.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Ritik Nayak, allegedly kidnapped the woman under the pretext of offering her a lift. Later, he took the victim to a temple in Dhenkanal, where he forced her into marriage against her will.

Following the marriage, the woman was kept confined in a house for nearly 15 days.

Seizing an opportunity, the victim, somehow managed to escape and approached the Mahila Police Station to lodge a formal complaint.

Acting on the complaint, the Commissionerate Police arrested Ritik Nayak from Cuttack.

The case has raised serious concerns about women’s safety and the growing menace of crimes linked to obsessive, one-sided relationships.

Police have assured strict action against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
