Alleged Negligence / Woman Dies After Delivering Baby In Keonjhar Hospital, Family Stages Protest

Keonjhar, Nov 30: Tension gripped Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital after a woman died following childbirth, leading to protests by her family and relatives.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Pinki Sahu of Turumunga, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning. The woman gave birth to a baby girl in the evening through a C-section procedure. However, by midnight she developed severe pain.
Despite repeated calls from nurses, no doctor reportedly arrived.
A nurse administered an injection, but the patient’s condition worsened, and she died around 2 a.m.

Following her death, the nurse issued a death certificate,
which allegedly lacked the doctor’s signature. This has raised questions and
fueled suspicion among the family.

Agitated relatives staged a protest inside the hospital premises, demanding accountability and refusing to remove the body until a doctor arrived. Police were deployed to maintain order and begin inquiries into the incident.
The tragic case has sparked outrage in Keonjhar, with calls for stricter monitoring of maternal care and accountability in district hospitals.
