Rourkela, Oct 7: Police on Tuesday detained three persons on charges of allegedly assaulting a young woman. The incident has been reported near railway track under Raghunathpali police jurisdiction in Rourkela.

According to reports, the matter came to fore after the victim lodged a complaint with the local police.

As per the complaint filed by the victim, the incident occurred when she was returning home after finishing work. Meanwhile, some youths followed the victim and assaulted her in a secluded area adjacent to the railway line.

Soon after, the victim approached the police station and lodged a complaint.

On basis of the reports, police registered a case and detained three persons in connection with the case.

Reportedly, the accused persons have been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
