Ganjam, Mar 18: As many as four individuals, including a woman and her son, were tied to an electric pole and mercilessly beaten in a village-led kangaroo court.

The shocking incident has surfaced from Betanai village under Asika block in Ganjam district.

The disturbing video of the assault, which went viral on social media two days after the incident, has sparked outrage and condemnation.

The footage shows the victims bound to a pole while being attacked with sticks and other objects by a group of villagers.

According to reports, the victims included a woman from Dhovasahi and her son, along with two others.

The motive behind the brutal assault remains unclear, though preliminary information suggests that suspicion of theft and previous enmity may have triggered the violence.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information, rescued the victims, and initiated an investigation. Officials confirmed that the victims sustained injuries but were provided medical assistance.

The police have assured strict action against those involved in the inhuman act.
