Key Points

As of 6:00 AM today, the water level at the reservoir stands at 628.47 feet, indicating a gradual decline.

Sambalpur, Sep 28: Following decline in water inflow at the Hirakud Dam, authorities have closed 14 of its sluice gates.

As of 6:00 AM today, the water level at the reservoir stands at 628.47 feet, indicating a gradual decline.

Previously, water was being discharged through 20 gates, but due to the drop in inflow, 14 gates were closed in phases yesterday, leaving only 6 gates currently open for water release.

According to official sources, the dam is receiving an inflow of 2,47,132 cusecs of water per second from upstream sources. In contrast, the outflow has been adjusted to 1,32,779 cusecs per second, reflecting the reduced pressure on the reservoir.
