Bhubaneswar, Sep 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another spell of intense rainfall across Odisha starting October 1, triggered by a fresh low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal.
According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the North Andaman Sea around September 30, which may evolve into a low-pressure area over the adjoining central Bay of Bengal by October 1. This system is expected to bring widespread rainfall across the state, with thunderstorms and lightning in several districts.
Currently, an existing trough over the central Bay of Bengal is active over interior and southern Odisha. It is expected to weaken and become a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 24 hours, continuing to influence rainfall across the region.
