Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: Bhubaneswar is witnessing a disturbing surge in abduction cases, with fears mounting over the presence of organised child‑lifting gangs in the city.

Recent reports suggest that children, particularly from slum clusters and vulnerable neighborhoods, are being targeted by miscreants.

The latest incidents have been reported from Salia Sahi, the city’s largest slum, where two young girls went missing earlier this week. Residents allege that gangs are abducting children when they are found alone, sparking panic among families and raising serious concerns about safety.

In response, Commissionerate Police have intensified search operations and launched a public awareness campaign.

Posters have been put up across Bhubaneswar, urging citizens to remain vigilant and share any information that could help trace the missing children. To encourage cooperation, police have announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for credible leads.

Senior officials stated that all possible angles are being investigated, and patrols have been intensified in vulnerable areas. The police have also appealed to parents to exercise caution and ensure children are not left unattended.
