Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Two individuals were arrested today for allegedly impersonating the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW) and defrauding people across several states.

The accused persons have been arrested from Maitrivihar area of Bhubaneswar.

According to a senior official, the accused were involved in a series of fraudulent activities, traveling to various regions under the guise of holding high-ranking positions in the central government. They allegedly exploited official protocols and used fake identities to gain trust and extract money from unsuspecting victims.

The duo reportedly lured individuals with promises of government jobs and other benefits, claiming influence through their supposed NCW affiliation.

Acting on intelligence inputs, police conducted a raid and apprehended the suspects, who had been operating across state borders.

Authorities are now investigating the extent of the scam and identifying other potential victims.

Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and verify credentials before engaging with individuals claiming to represent official institutions.
