Vigilance Raid / TPCODL Executive Engineer Lands In Vig Net, Rs 9.53L Unearthed During House Search

Bhubaneswar, Sep 25: An Executive Engineer (Quality) at TPCODL, Bhubaneswar, has been apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance team on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an electrical contractor.
According to reports, Executive Engineer Tusharkant Ray had demanded Rs 20,000 to release the inspection report in the favour of the complainant for supply of electricity to the transformer of an apartment building. With no alternative, the contractor approached the Vigilance authorities.
On the basis of the complaint, the anti-corruption wing laid a trap.
Ray reportedly summoned the complainant to his residence and later took him to a nearby park, where he asked for the cash. The Vigilance team, closely monitoring the exchange, caught Ray red-handed and recovered the entire bribe amount from his possession.

✨Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at three locations linked to Ray. During the raids, officials unearthed and seized Rs 9,53,200 in cash from his residence.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case under Section 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 and initiated further proceeding into the matter.
