Jagatsinghpur, Sep 27: Heavy downpours have wreaked havoc across parts of Jagatsinghpur district, leading to widespread flooding in low-lying villages.

Among the worst affected are Tirtol, Kotakana, and Adibasi Sahi, where water has entered homes and forced residents to seek shelter on canal embankments.

Nearly 30 tribal families have been left stranded, grappling with waterlogged homes and a lack of basic amenities. With no access to dry shelter, food, or sanitation, the situation has become increasingly dire.

With floodwaters entering homes, many residents have taken refuge on nearby canal embankments to escape the rising water.

District officials have reached the affected sites and are currently assessing the situation.

Emergency response teams are expected to initiate relief measures, including temporary shelters and food supplies, as the region braces for continued rainfall.
